Innovation in studio speaker design
For over 10 years now, KSdigital has developed and manufactured high-performance studio monitors. Our developments rely on innovations in the areas of electro-acoustics, sound propagation and, last but not least, digital signal processing wherever it is superior to analogue technology in terms of precision and sound neutrality. Bringing together modern digital signal processing with 20 years of experience in the building of speakers, controller speakers as well as the planning and implementation of complex sound engineering in many broadcasting centres, theatres and festival arenas (Reichstag in Berlin, for example) led, in 1997, to the development of a new generation of speakers. Many patented innovations in the areas of electro-acoustics, sound propagation and digital signal processing are implemented in KSdigital products.

FIRTEC™ technology: The ADM 20 (previously ADM2), for example, the first ever studio monitor with an FIR filter, revolutionised the studio environment with a never-before-heard spatial propagation of music, a quality reinforced in tests by specialist magazines and sound engineers. Here, a unique system of implementing the FIR filter was developed, called FIRTEC™, which managed with an ‘analogue’ latency of 5ms – meaning that it works with exactly the same lip-synchronisation and latency as an analogue equalizer speaker.
Using the FIRTEC™ technology, the system’s pulse response is mathematically pre-equalized in such a way that the flow of the music signal is correctly played back. This also automatically means a linearisation of the magnitude and phase frequency response.
“In terms of speaker design, everything has already been developed.” This quote from a visitor to the 1996 sound engineering conference, where KSdigital first presented a linear- and phase-amplitude equalizer monitor, using FIRTEC™, shows a certain underestimation of the importance of the “final link” in the transmission chain. However, this one is often the weakest. |

DMC™ technology:
Another unique innovation is the introduction of a regulated bass speaker. Here, the impulse behaviour at bass level is corrected in the same way as with FIRTEC technology, through regulating the membrane vibration.
The result is an extremely clear and reverberation-free deep bass tone. |

NeXT™ technology:
The latest development from KSdigital improves sound propagation from the monitor to the listening position through the use of cylindrical wave propagation. The studio monitor’s near-field is expanded in such a way that the acoustic qualities of the room are almost irrelevant. |

We look after our customers from the start of the planning up until optional follow-up measurements: This includes:
- Demonstration, or testing, in your studio rooms
- Acoustic consultation for the set-up and production layout
- Product selection and alternatives
- individual custom-made products
- Set-up and commissioning
- Follow-up measurements of the acoustic qualities
If desired, maintenance contracts are also possible. Trust in our experience. |
